Vahik Hartoonian
A Homely Gathering
A “homely gathering” is another narration of humankind’s story written by Vahik Hartounian. This story’s characters, however, seem to be unwilling to change.
Mankind, legend, and symbols, as Hartounian’s three popular protagonists have again merged into one another with a metaphorical tone in a black and white ( emphasized to be read as merely black and white without gray) to narrate humankind’s story again.
Mankind, according to “ a homely gathering” is not viewed as individuals’ self reflection. Instead, it is viewed as a holistic figure experiencing a similar destiny. The discrimination caused by geographical boundaries and history is all but a calumny. Having passed the threshold of time and place, you will note that we are having a shared feast. Discrimination of religion, race, and language suddenly falls and the remaining is the definition of humankind attempted to be portrayed by Hartounian.
At such a feast, with that view toward mankind, the second picture coming to the surface is revealing the complexity of the third millennium’s human race. Also, it reveals that the tale of mankind is unmasked to show that there is nothing behind the complexity, the concurrent story of human’s concerns and temptation deep into history which is as old as the presence of human beings, as old as the existence of legends, and as old as whatever religion has left behind for us.
